Atlantis Diesel Engineering (PTY) LTD was started in 1979 by the government of South Africa following the imposition of sanctions by the United Nations Security Council. ADE was licensed in 1979 to manufacture Mercedes diesel engines primarily for military vehicles such as the Unimog, Ratel, Buffel, Casspir, Rooikat and Samil.

After the 1994 democratic elections the company was closed, and due to demand, reopened again by the current shareholders. Operating from facilities in Johannesburg, South Africa, we are now working in association with leading Mining, Diesel Engineering and Plant Hire Companies whilst continue the supply of engines and components to the Defence Force Industries in Africa and other parts of the world.
